Planting Design and Technology 2 is a three-credit hour course designed as a continuation of Planting Design & Technology 1 (SBEZ 2903). Plants are important elements of the landscape, either as a design element in its physical form, or their ecological role in the environment by virtue of being a living organism. Planting design principles and practices are discussed according to the following aspects:

1. Defining space as the platform for place making

2. Enhancing legibility and creating an image of a space or building (sense of place)

3. Planting design guidelines and strategies for different contexts

4. Choosing the right plants based on the environmental and ecological context of the site 

5. Communicating planting design intent through oral, written and graphical methods
